Vacation!
I had a most wonderful vacation in Maine. Chris and I stayed at her parents cabin. We went hiking and kayaking and did puzzles. We also ate pancakes every morning.

So of course I destroyed something. I was testing out how sturdy the new fire ring was, and I broke it. This is me repairing it.
Actually, it's the only picture I have of the view from the cabin. There were loons on the lake too.

Here's the cabin.

I look a little scary, but the photo has a nice view.

Myself and Chris. It was a little chilly up there in them mountains.

Oh yeah. And the car broke down on the way home from the airport. But everything will be fine. Thanks to the AAA Plus membership my parents gave me, all the towing was covered. The garage thinks it's only going to be a couple of hundred bucks to fix it. Which is great, cause it seemed like an expensive problem at the time.

Something's missing...
So occasionally my co-workers and I meet for breakfast. This takes place EARLY because we have be at work by 7. So on the days we go out to breakfast, we meet at the restaurant at 6am. This was one of those days. So I got up at 5:45, put on some pants and went to the Waffle Iron. It took the rest of the crew about 10 minutes to show up. As I was sitting there I kept getting this nagging feeling like I was missing or forgetting something. Then it dawned on me that I'd forgotten to wear a bra. Opps. If it was a field day, I wouldn't have taken the time to retrieve my missing clothing, but today was an OFFICE day.
As far as office attire trends go at the Prescott National Forest, there are the people-who-work-upstairs and the people-who-work-downstairs. The people-who-work-upstairs are mostly female, with a few exceptions, and wear lots of makeup, have what some people call a "hairdo" and wear dresses and uncomfortable shoes. The people-who-work downstairs are about half female and half male and regardless of gender all wear something close to jeans, tshirts, and sensible shoes. BUT, I have yet to see a person obviously not wear underwear. So after breakfast I went home and added a bra to my oh-so-professional work attire of jeans, a tshirt with only one small hole, sandals, and a black hooded sweatshirt.

I caved
I took my computer to a place called "The PC Works!" .
Seriously, they have an exclamation point. As if the sheer wonder of turning on your PC and having it preform the simple tasks you require of it was a miracle akin to Our Lady of Fatima.
I mean , you would never see a mac repair shop called "The Mac is Fuctional!"
After explaining to the tech guy what was wrong and what I tried he said, well my guess is a corrupted hard drive, but we'll take a look.
Awesome.
Peace out.

No computer = no blog
My computer has died a sad death.
Luckily I had started backing up all of my stuff before it died.
I didn't back up itunes or photos. Hopefully, I can still get those off.
I'm going to bake the tech guys at Prescott College cookies.... for this will be the third time they've helped me pull data off my hard drive when my computer is broken.
I would appreciate any suggestions...
I can't get my computer to boot. It does from the dell startup screen (where you can press f2 or f8 to enter setup) to the windows xp start up screen. then it flashes to a blue error screen.
then it goes to a selection screen where i can choose to start in safe mode, etc. no matter what i choose, it goes to the start up screen, the windows xp start up screen, to the blue screen, to the selection screen.
I changed the boot order and tried booting from a disk. I tried system recovery and i also tried reinstalling xp. both options did nothing but start the startup screen-error screen loop over again. I looked up the error (Stop 0x00000024) on mircrosoft.com and they recommended running chkdsk, and removing the last program i installed.... but i can't get to a command prompt.
The last program I installed was limewire, and I think it may have been what crashed it. Any suggestions for how to uninstall it?
